Just Looking Up
After an amazing sunset from the area near Mauna Kea's Visitor Information Center, I began driving back down the road towards Kona. I was at about 8,500' in elevation and decided to pull over and see what the sky was like under a full moon. Note to self: next time I plan a trip here, we must check and go during a new moon.
I found few subject trees near the road and simply looked up. It is no wonder that astronomers from around the world proclaim Mauna Kea to be one of, if not the best spot on the planet to watch the sky. Here is a 30 second exposure - just looking up from under a tree.
